Senior Behavioural Scientist
Our client, a leading digital health organisation are currently recruiting for a Senior Behavioural Scientist to join their team on a permanent basis. As Senior Behavioural Scientist you will be an expert in health psychology, user engagement and user experiences for connected health products.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to drive the design of effective, appealing and compelling user experiences across programmes, based on human behavioural insights and best practice
- Proactively work with customers to support identification of priority behavioural challenges and devise a strategy to support deep understanding of these challenges
- Undertake deep analysis of user needs, through literature reviews and analysis of available Research
- Design, conduct and analysis of primary research when required to understand patients, carers, Health Care professionals
- Liaise with users and other stakeholders to understand the user journey, motivations and vulnerabilities of patients and medical staff using our products
- Contribute to the design of apps and services that engage users
- Drive a programme of research to develop new or improve existing research products, tools or approaches
- Provide insight and advice into the formation of good habits and behaviours
- Provide compelling content and persuasive technology to reinforce positive behaviours and affect behaviour change where necessary
- Design and implement a measurement strategy to demonstrate that solutions are delivering the required outcomes, and capable of adapting the intervention strategy when/where needed based on objective measurements
- Provide mentoring support to more junior members of the team
- Network with external experts to stay on top of new developments in the behavioural sciences, including presenting work at conferences
Requirements
- A strong background in health psychology/behaviour science built up through industry experience and/or through appropriate academic qualifications, such as an MSc or PhD in Psychology, Behavioural Economics, Organisational Behaviour, Management Sciences, Behavioural Marketing, or a related academic discipline from a leading university
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar customer facing role including experience of applying theoretical knowledge of behaviour into practical solutions in a commercial setting
- A deep interest in the use of technology such as mobile computing, wearable devices and predictive analytics to promote better healthcare behaviours
- Experience of behaviour change programs in a healthcare/clinical environment or in commercial applications
- A deep understanding of how these theories can be applied to help effect complex care interventions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and ability to work in both international and multifunctional teams
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to create practical and innovative solutions to complex problems
- Proven project management skills and able to work under pressure and manage your workload to meet short deadlines
- Strong written and verbal skills and be comfortable interacting and pitching to commercial clients
- Strong entrepreneurial drive and interest in the use of evidence to support commercial decision makers
- An appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of a wide range of research methods– qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods
- A willingness to travel (Covid-19 protocols permitting)
Experience in the following areas is a distinct advantage:
- Exposure to software development & design process
- Usability/UX design
- Knowledge of A/B testing techniques
- Knowledge of user acceptance testing techniques
- Knowledge of patient support programmes in a Pharma or other medical intervention context
