Depending on the size and complexity of company involved in Connected Health, there can be a mixture of the following Departments
Engineering: Everything from planning to programming of the product / service being offered. Clinical experience isn't necessary, but possibly an advantage. Is an excellent combination of interesting IT work, and IT professionals feeling like they are making a difference to the lives of patients.
Quality: normally quite a small department, but many CH companies are operated under ISO 9001 or even ISO 13485 standards there is often a requirement for a sole quality function
Sales & Marketing: in smaller companies, this will be performed by upper management. In larger organisations there will normally be a requirement for sole Sales & Marketing staff. Key here is having previous experience of dealing with hospitals and having a strong clinical network of contacts in place
Clinical: staff with Clinical backgrounds are normally used on the patient side, from recruiting and dealing with patients trialling the software / product / service, to working alongside the Client installing / training them in using the end product.
Other Functions: depending on the company and their level of involvement in Ireland, other functions can range from HR to
Supply Chain, Technical Services, Finance and
Medical Affairs. These supporting areas have been subject to a recent upturn recently, as companies are looking to consolidate and re-organise their business in different ways.
